Easier not to own a car... for now

I have been living in Montreal with my partner for more than 3 years now. At first, we already had a car that we kept for weekend road trips and camping. However, with our work offices not far, we mostly walked or biked most places, and took transit for anything further. We lived elsewhere in the same way where driving was only a weekend or special trip. Here in Montreal,  it was easier to get rid of the car (no maintenance, we have no private parking anyways, and street parking was hassle... especially in the winter!). Being able to rely on car2go, communauto or renting when we need it was a big factor.

Now that we have a baby, I rely more on transit and bike less than I used to (for now). Car ownership may yet be in our future if it becomes the easiest option. But I would prefer that the services and offer for families improve so we're not tempted.
